My newsletter for September is a bit different. I went back to school. I’m the oldest person on campus, at least I am in my classroom. I feel the kids, and I must call them kids, because they are the ages of 20 to 25, are mere children in my eyes. However, they are bright, energetic and I find them more accepting of different lifestyles than the older generation that we found freakish, unacceptable, absurd, or an abomination.
I see hope in their acceptance of people who are different. I am thrilled and excited watching them come together as a team, to work on a critical thinking project.
In class, we talk about oral sex along with Skinner the psychologist, Freud, and a host of others whose definition of sex and gender is far different than what I was taught.
When I took a Human Sexuality course in the 80s, we did not talk about STDs, oral sex, condoms, or birth control. Now In college, we’re learning about things I never heard of, like the term transgender or pan sexual. I heard of only two things; homosexual, and heterosexual. Back then we talked about the history of sex and the Bible, a bunch of things including Skinner and Freud. But nothing like today!
And I can tell you I would recommend everyone to sit in a classroom for an entire semester with people who are 20 years old. The future of our country is in acceptance, tolerance and patience with something or someone who is different from what we were taught and raised with!
My team consists of two boys and one woman, am being the woman, and a young lady who is 19.
The things that I found similar were a paper was due and the young lady said her printer wasn’t working. Does that mean the dog ate it? And the one show-off in class; there’s always one of them isn’t there?
I think I paid for the class just to laugh, I find it funny, humorous, delightful, informative and educational. Above all, there is a huge learning curve from where I am and to where they are now. I will keep you all posted on my progress.
I told you last month I sent out my brochures to therapists, and psychiatrists. I’m extremely proud of the way they turned out. Many helped them turn out so well. If you have a therapist or psychiatrist who you think would benefit from my book to help their clients, please let me know and I will send them a flyer, so they can make the decision.
I have a new computer and a whole new system, so I have not been able to record on Bichat, but I’m back at it on Wednesday at 12:30. Tune in if you want to hear my latest conversation about sex.
Have a wonderful September. Please check my blogs, I hope you looked at the toy of the month. It’s quite exciting: trust me, I know these things. Above all, be kind to each other.
I’m open for one on one life mentoring and accessible for seminars.
